 Here is how to make the delicious Italian bread Foccacia that can be served as a side dish or even as a sandwich bread.

ingredients:

  • Two and a half cups of flour
  • A teaspoon of yeast
  • Half a tablespoon of baking powder
  • A teaspoon of sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Cup water
  • A tablespoon of rosemary
  • A teaspoon of oregano
  • A quarter teaspoon of coarse salt
  • As desired, cheddar cheese (yellow)
  • Cup of cherry tomatoes (cut in halves)
  • Half a cup of black olives (sliced)
  • A sprinkle of parmesan cheese

steps:

  1. In a deep bowl, mix flour with yeast, baking powder, sugar, salt, olive oil, and water.
  2. Knead the ingredients for about 5 minutes until you get a consistent dough.
  3. Cover the bowl, and leave the dough for about 30 minutes until it rises at room temperature.
  4. Spread the dough in a medium-sized oven tray greased with a little olive oil, and leave it aside for about 10 additional minutes.
  5. Make holes in the dough with your fingers, then sprinkle a little olive oil, rosemary, oregano, and coarse salt.
  6. Distribute the cheddar cheese pieces, cherry tomato halves, black olive slices, and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Heat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
  8. Place the tray in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, brown the surface slightly, then serve the focaccia bread hot.
